SUMMARY - Two guests in a hotel meet outside in the cold after the fire alarm goes off at 3 am. In the rush to get out, she is only wearing her lingerie and shoes. A man chivalrously offers the hoodie off his back to help the poor thing. She takes it gratefully, but she doesn’t give it back. After a week of missed connections and being mercilessly teased by her, he finds that she’s lost an earring. He seeks her out to exchange property, but also to get a bit of recompense for her behavior. The story is told as a narrative from the VA’s 1st person perspective and one-sided (two-sided) dialogue with the listener.
