“You've been coming here for months now and have not improved at all. To casual observers, you hide how angry your failure makes you feel. But I am not a casual observer. I see beyond the facade and know you are furious with yourself. In your mind, to not excel at something on your very first attempt is bad. But to not excel after -months- is especially galling. Your continuing frustration is an unexpected delight for my senses. Did you know that your irritation has a scent? It smells like rich black coffee, the fresh, clean smell of the air after a lightning strike, and the sweetness of honeysuckle. Despite the fact that even a novice level of ability appears to elude you, you arrive every week to try again. Are you stubborn or tenacious? I haven't decided yet.
